Campground remains one of the nicest in the USA. They are building more chalets. Wi-Fi is weak in the park including Verizon broadband card on spots next to the river. I enjoy this place!
Stone Mountain and the area around it is beautiful. However, campground has gotten old and dated. The only sites to choose here are the ones right in front of the office and I will go one step further the ones that back up to the lake. I say the lake, since these sites were the most level and had best drainage. Forget the sites not in front of the office, which includes pull-thrus. They are the most unlevel sites I have ever seen. I tried parking on two different pull thrus and could not get level. Roads in this area are very narrow, your mud flap will drag, etc.
I stayed at this park two weeks after staying at Meridian East KOA (read my reviews of it). This park is not bad at all for a night or two stay. Very easy to get to, wide interior roads, concrete pads (owner should have made them wider). Used the laundry, extremely clean. Only real issue is campground is in the bald open, so no summer shade.
I stayed at this park for the world class Christmas lights that they have. My third trip at Christmas to see them. Great interior roads, gravel/dirt campsites. My only issue with this campground is that the county needs to work on getting concrete pads at least at some sites. However, this is the place to stay when visiting Charleston.
First off-- Be careful or you will miss the turn into the campground. You turn just to the left of the Chevron gas station. Good interior roads, nice gravel sites. Not bad for one night
One of the nicest campgrounds in America, hands down. Nice staff, nice sites, great roads, etc. It does not get any better than this !!! Great restaurants are right at your back door. Note they are renovating their laundry room in January 2009 and so it is unavailable.
Extremely narrow roads from the I-20 to the campground while passing a junk yard that has junk out on the road. The manager of the campground, Pat, is not very friendly. Had cones blocking interior roads to the camp sites from the office . I had to move them. It does not take much rain to make this place a true mud hole. Very narrow turns, ruts in the roads that hold water. In my 38 years of having RVs this is one of the worst campgrounds I have ever stayed at.
